KBCC #19 - Hand-Stitched Journal

Long time no see... KBCC stopped for 1 session in October coz it was Knotty Bicsie's 3rd Anniversary Celebrations. We finally met up again last Sat (28th Nov) & made some pretty hand-stitched journals :)
I've been very busy for the past few months since September, & I think I almost have neglected KBCC a bit. Sorry! :( Thank goodness our KBCC Family is very closely-knitted & everyone's always very helpful & generous. This time Moses once again came to my rescue by helping to conduct this fruitful session. Thank you, Moses!
We were all busy cutting paper, folding paper, poking holes, & stitching... before we were rewarded with our makan session! We had yummy home-made keuh patti, courtesy of our new member, Suzanne. Thank you so much, Suzanne! ;)
Check out our colourful hand-stitched journals! Yay!

KBCC #18 - Pop-Up Cards

Last Saturday was KBCC once again. I was down with flu & cough :( Luckily Moses had agreed to stand in for me to teach the making of Pop-Up Cards. Moses even thoughtfully photocopied instruction sheets for all to follow. We all had a jolly good time, just as usual. :) Thanks, Moses!
Check out our colourful masterpieces!

Despite the usual hot weather @KBCC (we noticed that it has NEVER RAINED at all, ever since KBCC shifted back to Knotty Bicsie Studio!), we managed to finished all our Mee Siam! Yum... Yum... :)))

Special Announcement!!!

Check out our 1st attempt. Our chameleons definitely look kinda mutated!!! hehe... :P

But finally we created something beautiful... Our proud masterpiece - goldfish!

KBCC #16 - ScrapBooking

Last Saturday was more chaotic than usual at our monthly KBCC, simply because we had a full house of 16 participants & literally scraps of materials everywhere! Nonetheless, it was a fun-filled afternoon for everyone still :D
Check out our colourful "stationery store" for the day. We had such a wide variety of materials to choose from, we were spoilt (& confused??) with choices! :P Thank u Moses, Corine & Laura, for sharing your resources.
Some KBCC Crafters like to bring their kids along to craft. It's really heart-warming to see these parent-child interact & collaborate in creating their very own masterpieces. Well done, parents & kids! ;)
Check out our beautiful masterpieces. I must say I'm really proud of our creations, especially since most of us were doing scrapbooking for the very first time! Yay! ;)
Special THANKS to Corine, who has so generously volunteer to share her scrapbooking experience. We really learnt a lot from you :)
Once again, our special guest, EeWei, graced our humble session with her very special northern light sky, lovingly posted all the way from Edmonton. Moses is now the lucky proud owner of this lovely handmade photoframe & in return, he's also made something special for EeWei. EeWei, I'm sure it'll bring tears to ur eyes... hehe... :P

Would also like to take this opportunity to introduce & acknowledge 2 members of KBCC, who's been so enthusiastic & helpful all these while....
First of all, someone whom many of u, especially newbies who just joined us recently, are very familiar with, our Honorary Usher @Sembawang MRT - Laura! Thank u for helping fetch newbies to our crafting studio...
Then we have our Honorary Facebook Photographer - Siti! Thank u for always being so efficient in posting up the photos the day after KBCC. I'm sure EeWei LOVES u very much! :D

KBCC #15 - WaterColour

Yesterday we tried our hands at watercolour. Lyn is so nice to agree to show us how. Everyone had fun "playing" with watercolour.
Check out our masterpieces! We sure got some hidden talent among us! :D
Our yummy delicacies sure are another high-light of KBCC! Yesterday we had Mee Soto (Malay chicken noodle soup) & Begadeh (fried potato cake), which were very well-received, especially the Begadeh. In fact, it was wiped out in 15min! :P For the past few sessions, since we shifted back to Knotty Bicsie Studio, our refreshments have been lovingly prepared by a few Malay ladies, all home-made traditionally. From now on, by popular demand, I'll also be including our menu on our KBCC monthly rendezvous :P So stay tuned.... :)

KBCC #14 - ButtonArt

Last Saturday was time for our monthly crafting rendezvous again! As usual, we had yet another jolly good time :) This time round, our craft is inspired by talented crafter I met on www.flickr.com Trust me, this ButtonArt is actually harder than it looks. P8 Accessories & Button Art, Thanx for sharing your brilliant ideas!
Well, I must say our 1st attempt at ButtonArt is not too bad la, even though a few of us "cheat" by constructing our ButtonArt on a felt :P We all struggled a bit at the beginning, then we had our usual "makan" (means eat in Malay) session before we persevere on & created these beautiful pieces. :)
I'm sure many of u still remember EeWei, who migrated to Edmonton? Well, she truly is 1 crazy crafting enthusiast! She's been trying so hard to continue to be part of KBCC, we finally found a solution! I will inform her of our craft in advance, so she can make 1 & mail it to me before our monthly KBCC. Then 1 lucky winner each month will get to swop his/her craft with EeWei. Here's our very 1st lucky winner, Richard!
EeWei, won't tell u which is Richard's masterpiece yet, so u'll get a surprise when I mail it over to you! :)
There was another special guest at our KBCC last Saturday. ShuaiXun brought his precious little ball-joint-doll. She is so photogenic indeed! No wonder people are so crazy about these "bjd"!
For our next KBCC, we will be changing out timing to 3.30-6pm instead. This is because some members had to rush from work & other commitment to KBCC, so we decided to push back the timing from now on. Details of June's KBCC:

Pls R.S.V.P. by 22nd June (Mon) to confirm your attendance. Thank you!

KBCC #13 – Needle Felting & Easter Swop

Helloooo fellow crafters! KBCC 25th April 2009 was such a happy event. But then again, KBCC events have always been happy events. I guess crafting does that to people.

We did Needle Felting. And these were the adorable creations of all participants on that day.

KBCC this time was double the fun when we had the Easter gift exchange. Look at these creative Easter-inspired gifts all handmade by the participants.

I’m so glad to have stumbled upon KBCC thru its founder, Betsy. Having only attended 4 KBCC workshops thus far, I’m fairly new. But I confess, I’m already addicted to crafting. At all the 4 workshops, I did things I never dream I’d be able to do, like sewing. Me, sewing? Yeah, right. But I did! Some of the crafts I never even heard of, like acrylic painting (what?), needle felting (huh?).

Now I find myself always looking forward to the next KBCC. To be amongst happy, creative people; picking up new hobbies; learning new skills and of course --- the food that comes after the crafting !

KBCC #12 - Plushies Party

KBCC's 1st Anniversary last Sat was a hit! It was so crowded, Moses, Ed & I have to give up our seats & chance to make our own plushies! :P Moses, thank you so so much for helping in the teaching!
We started our session with some "flashback", going through past KBCC photos & activities... O boy, sure brought back lotsa fond memories. The funniest gotta be the time when we braved the rain & continue our crafting at Botanical Garden! Haha... must've created a scene!
Then the session at Hougang Central Mall in conjunction with the Singapore Arts Street was indeed colourful & fun.
One of the most therapeutic session gotta be our painting session! This was also the month when Jullie gave birth to Little Prince Joel :)

Then came KBCC #12 - Plushies Party when everyone successfully created the cutest monster we can imagine! A few KBCC crafters were even awed by the fact that they can actually sew! haha... Well done, KBCC!!!
I'm sure there'll be many more cheerful kodak moments to add on to our KBCC album...
Last Saturday KBCC turns ONE @Pauseability, time to say farewell to Pauseability... From April onwards, KBCC will shift to my home studio @Admiralty Drive. With the passion & enthusiasm of all KBCC Crafters, I'm sure KBCC will go a long long way... I always feel I'm very lucky to have all these wonderfully happy & generous crafters as part of KBCC, making KBCC such a vibrant & brilliant month "rendezvous" for all! ;)

Here's what 1 KBCC crafter wrote to me:
"Dear Betsy, I want to thank you for organizing KBCC... I enjoy the sessions & the people very much... ... I have been to a few such gathering before, but never find it comfortable with people there until I went to KBCC, I meet with friendly people... who want to share their knowledge, I feel so welcome... ... I like KBCC, it's family oriented :D... ..." - Yuliana Tjioe, 30th March 2009

As most of you know, KBCC is run based on the principle of "not-for-profit", & our goal is to make crafting a modern way of life for everyone. With each participants paying a mere $10/session, we provide all materials for the new craft we are learning, & we even try to throw in some delicacy for every session. (Tell u a little "secret", we are always strangely hungry after we complete our craft! haha...) So if you enjoy handicraft, have been unknowingly drawn to our blog, what are you waiting for?? Send an email to Betsy (bicsie@gmail.com) now & be part of the KBCC Family! Cya at our next session!

KBCC #11 - Peranakan Peranakan!

KBCC in Feb was a special one because of 2 reasons:

1) In line with Richard's Peranakan Exhibition @Pauseability, we had a Peranakan inspired activity for our KBCC! Richard & Moses definitely brought us all back to our "good old days" of playing with paper dolls.
Check out our "Mini Project Runway"!

2) We had an especially sumptuous "refreshment" spread, all thanx to EeWei! Well, it was actually a farewell party for our crafty friend & she decided to give us all a treat. Thank you, EeWei! :)
Many of us prepared gifts for our Miss Sunshine: Richard made his signature miniature Peranakan beaded clogs, I knitted a lovely red beret for her, Moses & gang customized a sweet scarf for her from "you-know-who" :P
EeWei, all the best to you & your future endeavors with Darcy! Do keep in touch! Continue to post comments & even cool interesting crafty ideas here! We will all miss you so much! Don't cry at the airport tmr, ok?? :P Our lovely handmade gifts will definitely keep u VERY WARM in cold cold Canada... :)
